The Morphology Museum

Credits & sources

What the museum is built from, and who made it possible.

3D tooth models

The Specimen Cabinet's teeth and full arch are 3D scans by the University of Dundee School of Dentistry, published on Sketchfab under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0).

Changes we made: simplified and compressed for the web, re-materialled in our own enamel, mirrored for the right side, and placed at true relative size.

Drawings and diagrams

The arches, surfaces, occlusion side views, edentulous atlas, section plates and front views are drawn by EMALTARASH: generated from published average dimensions, not copied from any book or image.

Reference works

The average dimensions and forms behind the drawings come from:

  • Nelson SJ, Wheeler's Dental Anatomy, Physiology and Occlusion. Average crown/root dimensions, cusp and root counts.
  • FDI World Dental Federation / ISO 3950, Designation system for teeth and areas of the oral cavity. Two-digit notation. Universal and Palmer are derived from it.
